We will arrive around
mid-day at Broadstairs with its
quaint
harbour & sheltered beach and you will have a
little over two
hours to explore. You could walk along
the bay to the
greensward, maybe catch some music at
the bandstand, stroll around the town centre with its interesting shops and
cafes.
You might decide to visit
the Dickens Museum and see Bleak
House (not open to
the public). If you feel like indulging
yourself, you could
try an ice cream from one of the famous
Italian parlours
on the seafront. We board the coach again in
the early afternoon to take
the short trip to Ramsgate, where
you are again free to wander as you
choose. You could
explore the marina, with its many yachts and sailing boats and watch the
ferries leave for France. The harbour area has many interesting cafes and
restaurants. You could visit
the old Sailor’s Mission Church on the harbour or the museum. Perhaps walk
out
to the
end of the harbour arm, to watch the boats entering and leaving.
Construction of the
new wind farm off Broadstairs will be based here at Ramsgate, so there is
much sea traffic as a consequence. If the shops are more your style, then
they are just a short walk up the main
street from the harbour.
Departing at 8am, and
with a comfort stop at Thurrock en-route, we arrive in Broadstairs around
noon and depart Ramsgate at 5.30pm for our journey back to the local area,
arrival around 8.45pm.
